The HyperX memory may not be compatible with your system. Sometimes it does not matter if all the specs are the same. I would advise Crucial memory for Dell upgrades since it's guaranteed to work.
To add to Kelbear1, go to crucial.com, and use their memory finder to be guided to memory that is guaranteed compatible with your 8100. Just randomly buying (Crucial) memory doesn't guarantee compatibility.
Ok so there's something with the board. I tried 2 other brands of memory (Crucial and Corsair) the exact models "guaranteed to work with my studio xps 8100" and it does the same exact thing, reboot loop if i use all 4 sticks, freeze on startup if i use only the new memory... The memory is rated at 1.5V so there shouldn't be any BIOS adjustment to make (not that i could, it seems to be locked anyways) So now i'm really stumped. This memory is "guaranteed" to work with my model which should be able to take 4+4+4+4G ram (dosen't even work with 4+/+4+/) i really don't know what could be the issue now.
Remove the old memory modules and try installing one 4GB Kingston HyperX module and see if boots and repeat the process with the second 4GB module. I think one 4GB module is defective. Also try installing one working module in all the slots and see if boots in all the slots. If it doesn't boot in any of the slots then one of the slot might be having some issue.
I was told that I could upgrade my studio xps 8100 to 16gb ram, so I ordered 8gb of ram (2x4gb sticks, but got from dell four 2gb sticks,, now trying to get them to correct their mistake,, it's been two days now.

Let me know if it works.

Hi Mekado,
Two ideas. Reset the CMOS. Update the BIOS.
