Broken Monitor Stand

I am having a problem.  THree weeks ago I purchased an Inspiron 531s.  I love the computer but the monitor stand seems to be broken.  THe monitor points down and when I try to move it up it automatically goes back down.  It is as if the swivel to hold it up is broken.  I have tried calling for support but they tell me to call wal mart and they tell me it has been too long to exchange and to call the manufacturer.  I cant seem to get a response on how to get a replacement.  I feel like I am getting the run around.  If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

Thanks

When the monitor is part of the computer package you purchased, then it's covered by the same warranty on computer.

THIS will explain the warranty for Dell computers purchased from Walmart.

Note the registration process for Dell products purchased at Wal-Mart

I just contacted dell again and they said there is nothing they can do to help me.  they say the only thing covered on the warranty is technical issues.  I am so frustrated.  My computer is pretty much brand new but i cant enjoy it.  this is my first dell and i was so excited to get it but now it has turned into a disaster.  anymore help is greatly appreciated.

thanks,

That is not correct, the warranty also covers all parts that are defective, over the years, I've had many items replaced by by Dell under warranty, that have been defective.

When you have called Dell, have you tried escalating it, by requesting to speak to a manager?

If you have a case number, you could try contacting Dell's 'Unresolved Issues' here. <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>

I forgot to mention that I have registered it so the warranty is good they said it just doesnt cover anything except technical issues.

Thank you for the advice.  I have not really escalated it on the phone with them but I will.  I also just filled out the unresolved issue form.

I hope everything goes well, remember that you need to be politely persistent when talking to Dell's Techies.
