Calculator Key on KeyBoard stopped working
I have a new Dimension 8300 running Win XP home edition, with a Dell Enhanced Multimedia PS/2 Keyboard.
When I fist got the computer a week ago, I was able to press the calculator button on the Keyboard, to bring up the windows calculator on my monitor. Now the button does nothing. Does anyone know how to repair this?
Thanks,
Fetrunner

Walt,
Dell shipped me a "Dell Enhanced Multimedia PS/2 Keyboard". In my "control Panel" "keyboard properties" it says I have a "Standard 101/102-key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard". under Driver File details it says I have the following drivers for this keyboard:
C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\i8042prt.sys
C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\kbdclass.sys
My c:\Dell\drivers directory is empty. This is because Dell I installed the drivers and not me. With the other computer I had I installed the drivers as you did and it did put a keyboard driver in that directory. But as I said in my previous posts, this did not fix my problem as noted at the beginning of this thread.
I hope this has been of help.

Lance,
Hot key problem solved! My keys were not compatable with my ISP. I can go to google or wahoo after signing on and have no problem there. Guess I need to change my ISP. Chalk one up for a Dell Tech.

With the light off the keys work as cursor movement keys, it's only with the light on that the keys are numeric.
The default settings of the Num Lock state are usually controlled in BIOS. If you are happy about changing BIOS settings then do it.
