Can not save password

I would love to find out WHY my computer won't hold my password. I have the box checked that tells it to remember my password, but it never does. It has done this for about the past 6 months.

Using IE 5.x?
Then, try this:
Tools, Internet Options,Content.
In "personal information", click "AutoComplete".
In "AutoComplete Settings" window, ensure these 2 items are checked:
-"User names and passwords on forms"
-"Prompt me to save passwords".
Hope this solves it.AR

What password are you trying to save? Your dial up password? Or do you have a password set for when you start the computer?

Sorry, your browser doesn't support Java

falcon66,

If you have Client for Microsoft Networks installed as a protocol under Start|Settings|Control Panel|Network and your password was saved in the past, your password file has probably been corrupted. Do a Start|Find|Files or Folders and look for *.pwl. When you find one that has as its name some contraction of your name (falcon~.pwl) either delete it or change it to falcon~.old. Reboot and reenter your passwords when prompted. That should reenable the "Save Password" function.

Thank you for the replies, three in total.

1.- This computer has Windows 95 and IE version 4.72.3110.8 update versions SP1; 2735; 2922; 2958. I don't have the options mentioned.
2.- it's the dial-up connection to get into Internet Explorer or Outlook Express that it won't hold.
3.- By searching for *.pwl I found two entries.Do not know wich one to change.

With this information, could you please give me another hint?
