I figured it out. It has no indicator. It just took me a while to believe that Dell could design such an inconvenient keyboard. The only way one can tell is by clicking on the keyboard icon in the system tray. It very inconvenient in entering passwords which are blocked out.
I have often wondered why the caps lock key is so large and located in such a prominent place. I've made countless typing errors over the years. It would be neat to be able to disable the key.
Thank you for sharing the model no and your feedback on the keyboard.
There's a Keyboard Caps Lock Status utility that needs to be installed. It will display on the screen upon pressing on the 'Caps lock'.
If the Caps Lock indicator is not shown, please go to http://dell.to/16yVTRD to download the driver. Once installed, the utility is resident and always checks the status of the keyboard lock keys. When it is enabled on the keyboard, an icon will appear on screen as illustrated above.
The file downloads but I cant extract it. The file is R301307. It would seem to help if it could be extracted. Is there another utility missing from my system?
Fixed the problem by calling Dell support. Don't know what software he downloaded, but the first thing didn't work. He wound up using third party software, which could be better. It displays the caps lock switch, but only in the desktop mode. It would be better if the caps lock was permanently displayed on the task bar.
Please share the exact system model no. and the operating system installed on your computer. This application may not be compatible with all the system models. Please refer to the 'Compatibility' section mentioned in this link http://dell.to/16yVTRD.
You may also create a new user account and check if the issue persists. Please refer to the link on How to Create a user account http://bit.ly/VNSBTb (Windows 7).

Hi phyllisboy,
Please share the exact system model no. of the system or the model no. of the keyboard. Some of the keyboards do not have the indicators.

Hi phyllisboy,
I have attached the set up for your reference. Save the set up on your desktop. Double click to open the folder. Run the file named Setup.

Get this error on running setup -5001 : 0x80070002. Very frustrating. Do I need to call tech support?

Hi phyllisboy,
I am glad you got the Caps lock indicator working. Unfortunately, there isn't a way to assign the indicator permanently in the task-bar.
Do reach out in case you need any further assistance.
