I have no idea what you mean by Computer ID number.  Is it asking for the model number?  The serial number?  The processor ID number?  I don't see why you would need to provide any of these numbers to register some software.

Mattholcomb1,  unfortunately a Dell system doesn't have a 9 digit ID number.  What is does have is a Service Tag number which is basically the serial number of the system.  This number is less then 7 characters and can be found either on a sticker attached to your tower or by accessing the BIOS Setup by pressing the F2 key on bootup.  The Service Tag number will be shown on the top of the BIOS page.  I doubt the Service Tag number is the one being requested, but give it a try and see what happens.

Have you tried visiting Sony's web site to see if they have an FAQ in their support section for installation problems.  Possibly the information there would help further explain what numbers the software is looking for.

It is asking for a 9 digit code starting with 0,1,2, or 3.  It is used with activation codes for software.?  It is really ridiculous.  I purchased Sony Vegas ($100).  I rush home to use it and five days later I still can't use it.  For one their customer service dept. is open Mon - Fri 9-12, 1-5.  I work all the time so I have to call them when I'm at work.  So far I have had to get a serial number, an activation code, and a computer Id number!!!!!!  I bought it on Fri. night, so I had to wait to call on Mon.
