Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD Internal Sound Card with Inspiron 530

Hi I have a inspiron 530 and I am thinking about updating the current sound card which is a sound blaster xtreme. I am now running Windows 7 professorial 32 bit. The sound card  I am looking at is a Creative Sound Blaster X- Fi Titanium HD or the new Z card. I was wondering if anyone knows if this is possible or if there is another card which is just as good will work Any info on this would be appreciated.

Hi musicman980,

The sound card 'Creative Sound Blaster X- Fi Titanium HD' is compatible with 'Inspiron 530' desktop. The card needs to be connected to 'PCI Express®' slot located on the motherboard. Before you go for the upgrade, please ensure no other device is connected to the 'PCI Express®' slot as that will have to be removed in order to use the 'Creative Sound' card. You may refer to the following picture to check the location of the 'PCI Express' slot on the motherboard:

Image - Diagram illustrates the Inspiron 530 system board.

Number 26 in the above link is 'PCI Express® x1' connector (PCIE_X1). You may also want to refer to the following link to check the specifications of the Audio card:

Let me know if there are any other concerns.

Hi  thanks for the reply. I checked the pci express slot and it is alread being taken up by my Ge Force GT 630 which also blocks out the other slot underneith it. The only avilable slots I have are the pci slots. Are there any sound cards that will fit into the pci slots that sound just as good when compared to the Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD.?

Hi musicman980,

Thank you for your prompt reply. I was able to locate a PCI sound card on Dell website. You may have a look at it using the link http://dell.to/YVNmyc. However to check the sound card which meets the specifications you are looking for, we may have to look for a PCI Express sound card. The system already has ‘Creative PCI Express Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Sound’ card which can be connected to any available PCI Express® slot (1x or 16x). Would like to know the slot to which the current sound card is connected. Please refer to the following table to check the port on the motherboard and verify the same:

1

Chassis fan connector (CHASSIS_FAN)

2

Processor socket (CPU)

3

Northbridge (Integrated Video controller)

4

processor fan connector (CPU_FAN)

Hi thanks again for the reply. After reviewing the inspiron 530 diagram I found that my Sound Blaster Card is in PCI connector (PCI2.  I also looked at the card that you found on the Dell website it seems to be an ok card but I kinda was looking for something a little more up to date that can handle hd sound and possibly some gaming but mostly for music and movies. Do you know of another pci card that can handle hd sound and etc. Here is a link to the 530 layout. If you have any more info on this I would appreciate it. ftp.dell.com/.../inspiron-530_owner%27s%20manual_en-us.pdf

Hi musicman980,

Thank you for your reply. Most of the latest HD Audio cards are not available with PCI interface. They are either available in PCI Express or USB interface. I did some research online and found the following PCI Audio card:

You may check the link below to review different audio cards:

Hope this helps.

what's your budget? It may be better if you invest in an external sound card, that way you can use it with your laptop or next PC!
