Always include the PC model and version of Windows in your posts. What monitor?
Have you tested the monitor on a different PC, or a different monitor on this PC?
Is the monitor connected by a VGA cable to the PC? Check the cable connections at both ends, and maybe you need a new VGA cable (?)
If the video card has a DVi output and the monitor has DVi input, you could try using that instead of VGA. Alternatively, you might need a VGA>DVi adaptor if the video card only has a VGA output, but the monitor can take a DVI input.
Hello - I have a similar problem. I have an LG flatron E2441 monitor (with a Dell Studio D540 running Vista still). It HAD been working quite happily, until I disconnected it, but now the monitor refuses to get out of D-SUB power saving mode. Am using a VGA cable. Monitor works with 2 other PCs (one of which is a Dell) and my Compaq laptop. It doesn't work with a 4th PC.
Can anyone offer any help? I have tried all the normal stuff, checking the cable ad naseum, reconnecteing it and have switched the Studio PC on and off so many times (without being able to see where it's at) I could do it in my sleep. The shop I bought the monitor from reckon it's a PC problem (they would wouldn't they?) Something to do with the video card settings. Trouble is I can't change any settings on the PC because I CAN'T SEE what I'm doing.
Any suggestions please? I'm about to put everything out in the hard rubbisch collection and shoot myself!
Thanks but it's all fixed. I spoke to Dell support and I was using the wrong port on my PC. I have now installed an adaptor so my VGA cable plugs into another, this time white not blue, multipin port, and (hey presto!) it works.
PS More power to Dell support who provided a real live person I could talk to, on a Saturday morning, and resolve my problem. No waiting for ages to then finally get through to someone and be told IT support are not available outside business hours.
PPS :emotion-1: Please note - this is for a PC which is 2 years out of warranty. Very good service and much better than a few other companies I could name!
