DMA (Direct Memory Access) should always be turned on. It will speed up your ability to get data from the hard drive to the processor.

Thanks Nascar,   In my bios (A09) under integrated devices the on/off option for IDE drive UDMA is turned off.  It should be on right?   I know in my original post I put DMA and should have said UDMA.

Visit this site and get information about Ultra DMA. You should turn this on in BIOS as it newer and enhanced version of DMA.
