DVD-R or DVD+R,or RW,,what to use?
Hello,I have a dell e510,,says 48xcd-rw/DVD combine drive,,can I use either of the longer DVD cd's?thanks

Some quick google research indicates the gdr8164B drive is a dvd-rom drive, meaning it can play dvd's but not burn dvd's. The Sony drive is a CD-R/RW drive, meaning it can play or burn CD's, but not dvd's. So it appears the bottom line is you can't burn dvd's with this setup unless you install a new dvd burner, which can be purchased for $20-50 or so.

Click My Computer, then right click the dvd drive in question, then click properties. What model number is your drive? We have to know to give an educated answer to your question.

Hello,,this is some info I've found..DVD/CD-ROM drives,,,,,,,hl-dt-st dvd rom gdr8164b,,,,also,,,,,sony cd-rw crx217e,,??thanks
