Dell DM061
Hi, I'm a new user here at Dell but I have an extremely old PC and I want to ask something... Can anyone tell me if my desktop can accept any Intel Pentium G20XX processor? Or if cannot what is the most powerful cpu my pc can accept? TQ I want to upgrade my PC

By DMO51, I'll assume that you have an Dimension 5150/E510, is this correct?
The Dimension 5150/E510 does not support any of the Pentium G20xx Series processors, these require a different motherboard and socket..
The Dimension 5150/E510 motherboard has a Socket LGA 775 and does not support any Core 2 Duo/Core 2 Quad processors, only Socket LGA 775, P4 and Pentium D can be used.
The Pentium D945 is the maximum that can be used in these models.
However, if you do not have a 0HJ054 motherboard and if you upgrade the CPU on most of other motherboards, you can get an "incompatible CPU" at boot up and must press F1.
Prior to upgrading the processor, check that you have the latest BIOS version installed.

You should be able to install a Core 2 Quad Q6600 in the Dimension e520.

Before installing the processor, check that you have BIOS version 2.2.1 [or higher], when additional CPU support was added.

You cannot install any sandy bridge FCLGA1155 Pentium G2030 however. Conroe or Kensington class cpu's 65nm and with max FSB1066 run on the E520.
