Dell E521 . .Booting from USB help

Hey guys,  I have a Dell E521 with windows 7 Pro (64 bit) I'm trying to boot from the USB to use a bootable copy of UBUNTU, However, I cant get the PC to boot into the USB.  I went into the bios and changed the boot sequence, but it still boots from the HD.  I tried using the front USB ports and the back USB ports but it still boots from the main HD.

What I'm a doing wrong, . . ?  Am I missing something else to change in the bios?  Anyway, help would be appreciated.  Thanks, Ray

Hi Ray,

First boot the system to BIOS and then select On Board Devices and select USB controller and make sure it’s enabled and then follow the steps mentioned below.

  1. First shutdown the system and then connect the bootable Ubuntu USB flash drive.
  2. Power on the system and then keep tapping the F12 key at the Dell logo 3-4 times.
  3. It will give you option please select USB from the list and then it will take you to a to next screen it will say press any key to boot from USB and press any key on the key board and it will boot from the USB drive.
