Dell Heat Sink Assembly for a Q6700 processor in a Dell Precision 390

Hello,

Many moons back, I purchased from Dell two (2) Dell Precision 390 systems.  Over the months and years I had Dell upgrade one of them from a dual core 1.86Ghz processor to a quad 2.66Ghz processor.

Now, several years later, I wish to upgrade the other one.  Of course, Dell no longer sells the upgrade, but I have found a brand new still in the box Q6700.  It comes, though, with the Intel heat sink, which doesn't quite fit the Dell Precision 390 motherboard connectors.

I'm looking for the part number and/or a good source for the heat sink assembly and shroud for a Q6700 in a Dell Precision 390.  It is NOT the same as for the 1.86Ghz (at least not when you compare the two systems side by side).

Thank you,

Bert.

Dear Bert,

Thanks for posting your question on the Dell Community.

You're right, there are a few heatsinks for the WS390. I've listed part numbers below:

DN004 CPU Heatsink & Shroud Assembly, Performance

U9607 CPU Heatsink and Shroud Assembly

P8016 CPU Heatsink and Shroud Assembly For X6800 Extreme CPU Only

XP850 CPU Heatsink and Shroud Assembly For X6800 Extreme CPU Only

Looks like we have some of the Extreme heatsinks in stock. Feel free to PM me your full name, service tag and email address and I'll see about getting a quote made up for you.
