Dell Optiplex GX520 says incompatible processor
Hi,
I have a dell optiplex gx520 pc , its bios had failed to load. the loading bar at the splash screen got frozen so i couldn't even check the boot menu or enter the setup.
I removed the CMOS battery for 5 minutes and now got the following error (in bold):
System Halted!
Incompatible Processor
I don't know why it is not loading, i haven't changed the processor, it is the company's default processor.
I removed the processor and re-installed it but still getting same error...

I think your only recourse is to buy a CPU that is compatible with your BIOS, install it and then update the BIOS. Afterwards, you can reinstall the original CPU.
I'd also suggest buying a new CMOS battery.

This is not correct. Compatible Processors do not change to Incompatible Processors. The bios only accepts specific models.:emotion-3:

I know its the default company processor. I think there is problem with any other thing such as the bios because 1 month before, the same processor was working very well which is now being shown as incompatible

What country are you in?
What is the Bios Version?
Where was the system purchased from?
What is the S Spec of the processor.
There is no point in arguing.
The validated processor cannot be negotiated.
The processor in there is not compatible and I wasn't watching it the whole time so any changes that happened I will not be able to explain.
I have no reason to argue with a SPECIFIC KNOWN BIOS MESSAGE.
Per Chris the validated list is below with BIOS A11

Processors faster than 2.8ghz are not supported on the 520. Its not the default.

If its not the default processor, why was it working before, and why it was included in the CPU that I purchased in full original condition?

I am in Pakistan
The BIOS version is A03
The processor is of intel pentium 4 3.0ghz with 64bit capability.
When the computer was working fine, the bios version was A10. But when I removed the CMOS battery and reinstalled it, the bios restored to version A3 and I am getting the processor incompatible message since then

In that case, I suggest updating the BIOS.
