Dell Precision T5500 & Nvidia Quadro 4000 Graphics
Hi, I have a Dell Precision T5500 running a Nvidia Quadro 2000 Graphics card and when I startup or restart the system it posts straight away, I replaced the card with a Nvidia Quadro 4000 Graphics card with 6P power connector and when I start-up or restart the computer it takes about 15 - 20 seconds to post, light on monitor stays orange then goes green after this time lapse, things I have tried to eliminate the problem.
1. replaced monitor (still the same)
2. plugged in the other 6P power cable (still the same)
3. tried another graphics card with 6P power connector (still the same)
4. Updated system BIOS to A16 (still the same)
Maybe PSU? can anyone help?

You need a bigger power supply.
The 5500 comes with 525W(0G05V) or 875W (W299G) power supply. If you have the 875w unit then something else is wrong.

Yes,, I have a 875W PSU DP/N J556T
Come to think of it when I swapped out the card yesterday I also replaced the 2 Xeon E5504 for X5690 processors.
Tried the Quadro 2000 card back in the system just now "it doesn't have a 6P power connector on it" and it's still taking around 20 seconds to Post, so don't think it's the PSU

I have a DELL Quadro FX4800 Y451H in mine with the 875W power supply and it works just fine. Quadro FX 4500 CG794 also works fine.

Is your system a Precision T5500 with 2 x Xeon X5690 processers installed? I think it maybe a BIOS setting but not sure what? this has happened after installing the X5690 processors.
Would like to know why my system is posting around 10 - 15 seconds later after switching on? before this it was around 3 - 5 seconds

Is the Post setting FAST or Thorough? You will not get an answer to "seconds" because the system is not malfunctioning. Adding more ram also makes it take longer unless you hit space bar to bypass ram testing.

Not sure what you mean by Post setting FAST or Thorough? I've added 30GB memory, 2 x Xeon X5690 CPU's and a Quadro 4000 so I guess all that would Post a little bit longer, first computer I have had with this much memory and 2 CPU's so was a little concerned, my Precision T3400 with 16GB memory Posts straight away.
