Dell Self Test Feature Check?????

Hi all, I don't know if this is the right place to ask this question but here goes.  I just got my Hubby a new Dimension 8250, came in yesterday!  Really love it, 19" flat screen is unreal.  Anyway, we set it up, then went to eat dinner.  Screen saver came on in 10 mins, so far everything ok.  About 5 mins later this Dell Self Test Feature Check box popped up.  It had a box showing four colors, red, green, blue, white.  We could not get it to stop or get the computer back on.  Even the old Ctrl/alt/Del would not work.  Is this a new Windows XP feature? I am still using Wins 98 on my Dell so XP is new to me.  Any clues on what this is or what I should do?

  Thanks so much

Pam, I had the same problem on my 8250, and it turned out that this self test works when the monitor is unplugged from the computer but still plugged into the wall socket. I was told to check my connection at the computer and sure enough it was not good connection. In other words, if you just plug the monitor into a wall socket, this self test shows on the monitor. I hope this helps. So maybe check the connection at the back of the computer.
