Dell Support Center software does not load
Dell Support Center software does not load on my machine. I get the message:
This software package is not designed for use with this machine type
My machine is Optiplex 755 running 32-bit XP. Any ideas?

Hi Williamou,
Have you checked downloads for a newer version than the one you're trying to install?

Hi Steady_01,
Are you getting this message on start-up? If so, I suggest you completely uninstall the program. If you still would like to use it, go to Downloads and get the current version.

Thanks for replying.
No, it doesn't happen at start up. I have un-mounted and re-mounted the program. The error message occurs when I try to install the Dell Support Center application.

HI,
I think you can try to use another type of machine instead of Optiplex 755 running 32-bit XP. .

Hi Steady_01 I have a Latitude E6500 and had the same issue. I checked with Dell Support and learned that this alert program is applicable only to Windows 7. And, that when released Dell wasn't able to identify only Windows 7 systems so presumably everyone got the notice. So I proceeded to uninstall it..

Interesting. You would think they would correct their system requirements page in that case. Thanks for letting me know.

Thanks for the info that I've sent to the Dell Support person who advised me that the software wasn't applicable to XP machines. Keep posted.

A Dell Support rep called and indicated that this software isn't applicable to my Latitude E6500. I mentioned that you has the same issue with an Optiplex but got nothing further. If you installed and then uninstalled this software as I did, take note that the uninstallation leaves a PCDr folder in Application Data that I manually deleted.

I have:
All three give me this error when trying to install the Support Center. So there is something else going on.
The D531 previously had version 2.0 installed on it, which has been pestering me to update, but has always failed. Today it gave me the message that 2.0 was no longer supported, so I tried again.

Same problem for me on an Alienware m15x which used to run the 2.0 version just fine.
