Dell Vostro 200 Mini tower

Hello, i am new to this as well as burly getting into computer software and hardware.

Recently i bought a Dell Vostro  200 mini tower from Craigslist. Its running on Windows 7 ultimate. these are its specs:

Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU e2140 at 1.60ghz

2.00 gb ram

64bit operating system

has 80gig hard disk memory and i installed a 250gig memory to it

has a Intel(R) G33/G31 Express Chip set Family graphic card

i need advice, recently me and couple of my friends are planning on doing some video projects for you tube. I've tried downloading some applications but they wouldn't work.. i wish to use this Desktop for video editing and as causal gaming such as emulators!

Do i need a new graphic Card and whats good? What kind of Ram do i need?

looking for good performance with a economical budget

Thank You so much for taking time to read this and helping out!

You need more RAM, a faster CPU, and probably a discrete video card. (I'd suggest an R7 250 video card.)

I have a Vostro 220s, and it is working very nicely with a matched G.SKILL PC6400 pair.

I suggest an E8500, like this one for sale on eBay. I suggest buying one from eBay; if you do buy a used CPU, you'll need to clean off the old thermal compound from the heatsink, and you'll need thermal compound when you install the new (old) CPU.

Before upgrading the processor, check that BIOS Version 1.0.16, is installed, when support for new Intel CPU's was added.

hello again, okay wow that's amazing! I'm definitely going to order that one its a 3ghz really good.

I was reading and catching up on info for desktops and read that the motherboard has to be able to support a certain CPU how would I know or check?

Either open the case and check the label on the motherboard, or download CPU-Z to find the motherboard information, it is a free utility.

Then you will need to update the BIOS to the latest version.

Windows version 6.1.7601 has nothing to do with the BIOS.

Bootable flash drives are a good way to update the BIOS.

AstrellaEspada

Hopefully you downloaded the 1.0.16 BIOS update, from Dell's Drivers Site and not from Foxconn.

thanks,

I'm in the foxconn website and I'm looking at the bios updates there are so many! I did find one that's says

G33M submitted 08/11/08 download times:5079

there was a whole list of updates under this file, but I found this one that said:

motherboard, socket:755, motherboard bios:BIOS

Type: Motherboards BIOS. file size:683kb

version:722F1P36,  updated: 07/02/08

Description: update CPU microcode to support E8400, E8500, E8600 CPU

or do I need to download the all under this file?

I looked it up on Google search, put in G33M02 bios update and took me to foxconnsupport.com/download.aspx

entered my information

product: motherboard,  platform: Intel platform,  socket: socket 775,  chipset: G33M

and yea I got a whole list. so now I'm abit stuck.

thanks for taking time to read this!
