This is a very old list, it is from 2007, before the Bios update: 5.0.3. I know there's a newer one, but I just can't find it. The newer list is for after the latest Bios update.
Finally I found the right upgrade for the XPS 410. It's the fastest CPU that the XPS 410 can handle, it's the Intel Core 2 Quad Extreme Edition QX6800.
People remember this Motherboard can only handle processors with 1066 MHz of FSB, so, the fastest one it can handle is the QX6800. It won't handle the QX6850
because it has 1333 Mhz of FSB. I installed the QX6800 on my XPS 410 and it is flying. I replaced the E6700, 2.66 GHz.
Just confirming that the qx6800 works great in the Dell xps 410. When I was researching to figure out how to upgrade my old xps, I found loads of posts inquiring about installing this processor, but no reliable success stories. I just installed a QX6800 in mine, and though they were once priced at well over $1000, you can get one at between $50 and $100 on eBay now. The stock XPS 410 works just fine, just pick up some new arctic silver and you'll be fine. My old system flies now, and with a new SSD it feels like it could handle anything at this point, no need to overclock.

Most of those are stories. I would recommend updating to the latest bios BEFORE trying it. I doubt the QX6850 1333mhz fsb part works.
This part does work in a T3400 with X38 chipset.
The performance 130W copper heatsink X9694 would be required.
My T3400's with Core 2 Quad Extreme have X38 chipset and 525W power supplies.
