Dell crashes when trying to open PDF
Hey all -- a Dell Dimension here in my office (only about 3 years old) crashes every time my coworker tries to open a PDF. Not just that the programs freeze or close -- he has to restart his computer by manually shutting it off. We have tried taking Adobe Reader off his computer, reinstalling, etc. repeatedly, to no avail. Has anyone had this problem, and how did you fix it? (I am not sure, but I personally don't think Dell would support this if I called in) -- thanks!

Thanks Ceri for replying so quickly! I should have mentioned the version in my original post. I cannot verify the old version because in Feb he tried installing again, and so now he has 7.0, BUT this has been going on for months, and hence before 7.0, so I guess 6.0 and/or 5.0.......

HI,
Try using a lower / older version of Adobe Acrobat.
The most recent versions 6 & 7 needa lot of power and memory

Eve,
After some effort I finally convinced out IT department to downgrade my work machine to reader 5.
The pre-installed version six gave me problems displaying and printing pages properly. V 7 uses even more resources.
Progress, who needs it.
Just checked, yes I thought so, I still have an abacus and my slide rule on the shelves.
