Dell xps 8500 Does Not Recognize Scanner
Scanning device is an HP Photosmart All in One HP 2575 printer on my XPS 8500 under Windows 8. i first installed it as an USB device and Windows Fax and Scan recognized it and scanned nicely. I then installed it as a network device and WFS would not recognize it as a scanning device when I unplugged the USB cable. It prints just fine but will not scan.
Oh, BTW the network problem occurs when connected either by wireless or Ethernet cable.
What might I have done wrong and how may I correct it? I really would like to get rid of the USB cable and rely only on the Ethernet connection.
Thank you

I just got the latest versions of the drivers and software from HP. They solved the problem. Am not sure how to mark a thread as 'solved' or 'answered' in this forum. If someone will point out how to do it I will

Hi Coast Guard Jack,
Have you previously been able to scan via ethernet? Do you get a particular error when trying to scan via ethernet?

Yes! I have used Windows Fax and Scan on several machines to scan from the HP on the network.

Some further information.
If I go to Network and select the Photosmart printer and select scan from there, the document scans perfectly. The problem seems to be with Windows Fax and Scan. Or at least here on my Windows 8 installation.
