Dimension 3000 - Error Code 2F00:0119

Have a Dell Dimension 3000

Computer locked up.  Did a restore.  Screen went black.

Was able to run the Dell diagnostics extended test on the system.

Got the following:

Error Code 2F00:0119  MSGR: System Memory Failure  Read FF7BFFFFh   expected FFFFFFFFh at address 30000260h   suspected memory component located on system board at label DIMM_1

Is this something I can fix myself?

It is saying your memory is bad. You can try reseating the memory (pull it out and put it back in). If that doesn't help, you can replace the memory. The error message is telling you which one is the problem (the one closest to the processor).

Just following up on Peter's good advice. Make sure you power off, unplug and press/hold power button on front of tower for ~15 sec before you open the case and reseat the RAM modules. ;)

If you still get the same error, remove that module (as above), and put the module that's in other slot into this slot. If that works, then you know it's a bad RAM module. If you get the same error again, then you may have a motherboard problem.
