Dimension 4700 where is our ethernet controller driver?

We reinstalled Windows Xp on a dimension 4700 and now have no internet access because there is a yellow/!\ icon next to the ethernet controller in device manager. Which disc that came with the computer would this be on? We can't find it and don't have internet access to download it right now (I'm a half hour away)

after completing the installation of windows xp on a dimension 4700 you need to install the drivers for the various compoents that are installed.  you should start by first installing the chipset drivers, then follow that with the others as desired, typically starting with the video drivers (so you can see things better), then network drivers, audio, modem, etc.  if you have your orginal dell oem xp cd then you probably also have the the drivers cd that came with the system.  the drivers on the cd are probably dated (newer ones available from support.dell.com) but they should work to get your system back up and running.  if you don't have the drivers cd then you can download all the drivers you need from support.dell.com and then copy them to a usb drive, burn then to a cd, or some other sort of storage device.  alternatively, you could try to use the system recovery partition by pressing cntrl-f11 during the power on self test to reinstall the system back to the original configuration, but this requires that the hard disk in the system is the original one and that it was not wiped.  good luck.
