Dimension 8400 Battery
Occasionally on startup, my Dimension 8400 (purchased in Jan 2005) flashes an Alert "System battery is low", but I have not had to reset time and date information. Is it time for me to order a new battery and replace the one in my computer?

Yes it is time to replace it but no need to order a $3 CR2032 battery. You can buy this coin cell battery anywhere--discount store jewelry counter, drug store, grocery, etc. Simple to replace. Directions are in the manual here: <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell> Follow the safety directions for working inside the computer and make sure to replace with the correct side up.

Yes, a 3-V CR2032 lithium coin cell is required, this can be purchased from any Radio Shack, WalMart and most pharmacies.
The procedures for replacing the battery, are HERE <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>
Hint: Before replacing the CMOS battery, make a note of the system setup settings, as a reference.
