Dimension 9200 failed memory upgrade - wrong or dead chip?

I own an eight years old Dimension 9200 - ssd and win8.1 - still runs great

Currently running with 6gb or ram
- Chan0: 2048MB Pc2-6400 DDR2-SDRAM Corsair CM2X2048-6400C5
- Chan1: 2048MB Pc2-6400 DDR2-SDRAM Corsair CM2X2048-6400C5
- Chan2: 2048MB Pc2-6400 DDR2-SDRAM Kingston RMD2-800/2G

...and I wanted to go up to 8GB, so I bought this:
Kingston 2GB DDR2 PC2-6400 800MHz CL6 Memory RAM
code: KVR800D2N6/2G
specs: http://www.kingston.com/datasheets/kvr800d2n6_2g.pdf

But it doesnt work.
I've read on this forums Dell motherboards can be picky about memory chips but specs really seem they should fit

Obviously I've tried the stick alone, without any other sticks installed, and in all the four slots.
Doesnt boot. Unfortunately I dont have another system to test

So my question is
- do you think is DOA and I should ask for a replacement?
- or should I return it and buy something else?

There are basically four reasons, why memory does not work (1) RAM not compatible to the computer (2) Faulty RAM (3) Bad memory slot [rare] (4) RAM not installed correctly.

I would think that the KVR800D2N6/2G is not compatible, as you have tried installing it in every slot, one at a time, without the system booting successfully.

Over the years I've it easier to either, buy from www.crucial.com  using their memory selection tools, obtain the part number and either buy from Crucial, or shop around for a better price using Crucial's P/N, or from Newegg has an excellent memory selection tool, that lists all the different manufacturers memory that's compatible.
