Dimension C521...Need help installing an Audio Output Device

Good Day Everyone!!

If you can help that would be awsome....I just need a download

thing for my Dimension C521. I just need to install an Audio output Device

that will work. The last time I installed one, I could only hear sound from my

headphones (when i plugged them in) and there was no sound from my speakers.

If this can be avoided it would be greatly aprishiated.

I'll be thankful for any help....

Can you please respond to this A.S.A.P if you know what your doing.

It would help to know what sound hardware you have, the standard Integrated (on the motherboard) Audio or the optional Soundblaster sound card.  There is different drivers for each.

In addition what happened that caused you to need or think you need the drivers?  Depending on what happened it could be there is more to it than just reinstalling the sound drivers.

But, HERE is the Dell downloads for the C521 and Windows XP.

Hello again.......

Um well first of all there is no sound. So I tried to get to the bottom of this.

I searched a bunch of stuff on my Computer. Somthing told me to look at the little

speaker icon down in the bottom right hand corner of the computer screen. So I did. When i put the mouse

over top of it, it would say " No Audio Output Device is Installed "..... and there was

and still is an x over it. So I know that you need this driver thing to have sound.

And I have a question - do you need to have this to see if you have a sound card or

to know what it is called????

Thnx for your time.....talk to u later....

I gave you the link to the Dell downloads on a previous post.  There are two "Chipset" drivers, I'd suggest you reinstall those and then the SigmaTel drivers (I assume you only have the basic Integrated - on the motherboard - audio).

After you get those installed, restart the PC and see if you have audio.  If you are only getting audio from the front headphone jack, check the Control Panel/Sounds and Audio devices and make sure your speaker setup is correct for the type of speakers you have.  e.g. if you just have the standard Analog Powered Computer speakers it should be set for stereo (or whatever you particular configuration lists).  Do not leave anything plugged into the front headphone jack as that disables the rear GREEN speaker out jack.
