Dimension E521 Fatal Error Message

Can anyone help in determining what the problem is?  I have a Dell Dimension E521 which boots up to the point where the system is getting ready to go to the user login, but before it gets there, the message reads as follows:  Stop: C000021 {Fatal System Error}  The windows logon process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000034 (0x 00000000  0x00000000)  The system has been shut down.

Prior to this happening a virus had infected the computer.  Please let me know if you can help.   Thanks,

If there were a virus infection, even if it was removed, depending on the virus the Operating System can be corrupted and this sounds like what has happened.  I assume with an E521 that you still have Windows XP.    You can boot with the Windows XP and run the XP "Repair" and this MIGHT fix it.  But if that doesn't help you are looking at a complete reinstall.

The E521 came with a Dell recovery partition on the hard drive and if its still there or not corrupted you can do a complete reinstall back to the original factory condition with this.  CTRL/F11 at power on will access the PC Restore.
