Dimension E521 “missing codec” problem.

Hi there, …… I have a “missing codec” problem.

My system is:

Dimension E521

Windows Vista Home premium

AMD 64 X2 Dual Core Processor

32 bit OS

w/Windows Media Player 11

I got a Samsung S730 camera for Xmas and tried the Video thingy out, but after downloading it to my Vista PC ….. the video played fine ……. but it would not play the audio and gave me an Error message, to wit:

Windows Media Player Error Message Help

You've encountered error message C00D10D1 while using Windows Media Player. The following information might help you troubleshoot the issue.  Codec is missing Windows Media Player cannot play the file (or cannot play either the audio or video portion of the file) because the -0010-8000-00AA00389B71} codec is not installed on your computer. The missing codec might be available to download from the Internet. To search for the -0010-8000-00AA00389B71} codec, see WMPlugins.com.

I checked WMPlugins.com for codec # but not there.

I searched the Web for Codec # but no find.

I re-installed the Samsung drivers and Digimax Master photo program …. to no avail.

I checked MicroSoft Forums and no solutions.

I checked MicroSoft for updates to WMP  and I have the most current version.

I “played” one of those “help videos” that came pre-installed and the sound was OK.

I sent a copy of my video to a friend who is running Vista …… but not on a Dell and he said no problem with the sound.

I would appreciate any help in resolving my problem of “no sound” from my camera videos.

Thanks much, …..Sam

Hmmm you could try installing the k-lite codec pack:

I am not to sure if it'll help resolve your issue though.
