Disable dual core processing on the C521?

The situation: I have a program on two computers that conflicts with hyperthreading and dual core processing.

In one computer, a Dimension 9100 with an Intel proc, I could go into BIOS and under "Performance", disable dual core processing. Problem fixed.

On the second, a Dimension C521, I see no such option.

The specs:
BIOS 1.1.2 (11/8/06)

Processor AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core 4200*

Is there any way to disable dual core processing on the C521?

Many TIA.

Does not look like it.

Here is a utility that can set processor affinity for any program, so you can specify the program to use only 1 processor, this may correct the problem with that program

Many thanks for the prompt reply.

A related question:

A third PC in our workgroup, a Dimension 8300 with a 3 Ghz Intel Pentium 4, does not have dual core, but did have hyperthreading capability, which I had already disabled in the BIOS.

I see nothing else in the BIOS about possible mimicking of multiple processors, yet this PC still manifests the conflict.

There was a setting for CPU speed - normal vs compatible. The help screen was more mysterious than helpful on that choice. Could that setting, or any other one I'm not aware of, apply to my situation?

Thanks again.

Compatible is for running really old MSDOS programs, slows the processor way down, don't use that setting.

If hyperthreading is disabled and Task manager shows 1 cpu, then it is another problem.
