Disable the PNP OS option in BIOS
Greetings,
I have installed multiple distributions of linux with a lot of success with one exception.......the sound card (Montego OEM). Aureal has finally released drivers for linux, but they require that the PnP OS option in the BIOS be turned off.
This is however impossible as the BIOS for my optiplex g1 seems to only do PnP. This is a problem, as there are other operating systems out there besides M$.
I am very excited about Dell supporting linux in the future, but I need to know if there is a fix for the current BIOS to enable me to turn off the PnP OS option?

You are correct - there is no way to disable PnP in the BIOS on the G1, and I do not believe the functionality will be added in the future.
Thank you for visiting DELLTalk.

How have you gotten around the BIOS problem in your other systems?
