Display Driver Problem
Ok I have a Inspiron 530 desktop and recently whenever I play a game (Sims2, Sims3 or World of Warcraft) I get a "display driver igfx has stopped responding but has recovered” error message. I have a feeling I need to replace my card(Intel ® G33/G31 Express Chipset Family) as the system is nearly 4 years old and the G33 isn’t all that great to begin with. The problem is I have no idea how to go about it or what card would be an idea replacement. I have a friend who could install the card for me but I really have no clue as to what would be a good card to choose.
If I’m wrong then please offer a good alternative. If not then can someone recommend a good card. The Sims 3 is probably the most graphics heavy game I play so I just need something that will play that and I‘m not too fussed about the price. My warranty has expired but I’m not sure what effect that will have.
Hope to hear back from you guys soon!

Hi, That what you quoted is your chipset, and not your graphics, which I'm guessing in a onboard chip, rather than a PCIe graphics card. That may well br your problem, as onboard chips are no good for gaming, and I would recommend you get a PCIe graphics card, like a ATI HD 5670, like the one I use. It's a card that will take it's power off your mobo, and no upgrade is needed for your PSU.

Ah so it would just be a simple case of getting the card and installing it as usual? I wouldn't have to upgrade any other part of my computer? If that's the case then that is great to hear.

I suggest to buy a 5890 ATI VGA. It can handle running your games but note that this graphic card needs at least 450 W of power supply so you should probably change your power supply to. And also 5890 ATI VGA is PCI express 2 and its better that you have a mother board which supports PCI express 2.
