Doom II

I am not sure but maybe Doom II is not compatible with Windows XP, if thats what you have. Doom II is a DOS based program, I think. You should get it to be compatible with Win98/ME

I ran DOOM II under Win98 but XP is probably a problem. Look for DOOM III which is in the works.
