Drive controlled by RAID BIOS and start up problems?

Hi,
Can anyone help, I have a Dimension E520 with vista OS. I was having problems formatting my DVD Drive Phillips 8881. So I tried to download Driver software. Stupidly I flashed my DVD drive witha the following app
Windows based firmware flash utility update for Philips DVD8801 HH 16x DVD+/-RW drive. v.AD21, A04
I accept my drive is gone but I now have a whole set of problems.
On the Dell screen at start up it tells me its RAID revision 2.2.0 and it stay on for a long time
I then get the option to F2 for set up or F12 for boot menu
in the next screen i read that
Port 00 Hard Drive, STA3808110a (This is my old DVD Drive)
Controlled by RAID
Port 01 No  Device Detected
Port 04 No Device Detected
AHCI BIOS not installed
Drive 1 not found Serial ATA SATA1
Drive 4 not found Serial ATA SATA4
This all takes a lot of time to get to login screen and my desktop. I am then told my Desktop Manager has stopped working. When I click on any of my Icons the PC Freezes and after about 5 mins it returns and I can use pc.
In my Device manager the Portable devices  - USB HS-CF and  USB CARD MS - are warning that they are not working properly and unable to install Driver SW. I noticed that their Driver SW number is the same as my DVD Drive b4 I flashed it. I have backed up my files so if a Uninstall and Reinstall of the OS is needed I can do.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
Marc
Marc

Hi Marc,

You might try disconnecting the DVD drive to see if that has any affect.
