Driver diagnostics not supported
Hi - this is my first post as I am having trouble with the following driver on my Dimension 5000:
HL-DT-STDVD-ROM GDR8163B
This driver is unable to read either a CD or a DVD and I can't seem to find a firmware update for it on the Dell website.
I also have a Philips DVD+/-RW DVD8631 which I have found a firmware update for and this drive now appears to be working.
Does anyone have any suggestions please as to what I can do to make this drive work.

Not all optical drives have firmware updates.
Uninstall the drive in the Device Manager and then restart the PC and the drive will be detected and reinstalled. If that doesn't fix it, repost on the DISK DRIVE section of the forum - the forum section for CD/DVD drive problems.
In the Device Manager, RIGHT click on the entry for the drive and then LEFT click "Uninstall".
