Dual U2417H, MST doesn't work when using an AMD R5 430, CentOS Linux 7.4

I've been searching for the specs on R5 430 to see what kind of MST support it has but i'm coming up short. The machine is a
Manufacturer: Dell Inc.
Model Number: OptiPlex 7050
Graphics Card:
Intel Corporation HD Graphics 630
AMD/ATI Radeon HD 8570/ R7 240/340 OEM
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7500 CPU @ 3.40GHz
OS: CentOS Linux release 7.4.1708 (Core)
Monitors: 2x Dell U2417H

Would I need specific drivers or a MST HUB to get this working? MST works when using the on board video, but I would rather use the dedicated video card.

Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, you are in non-tested waters. Dell never validated/tested the U2417H in Linux. We only validated/tested for Windows 7/8/8.1/10. The U2417H hardware is DisplayPort 1.2/MST daisychain capable, but you are at the mercy of the Linux AMD drivers as to whether they can activate the DisplayPort 1.2/MST daisychain. If not, each U2417H will need to be connected to their own port on the AMD video card. You should ask the Linux users here.

But why in the first place? There is no performance increase by doing MST? On any U2417H in-port DP/mDP/HDMI, the U2417H will only do 1920x1080 60Hz. So by connecting them to different video card ports should not matter?

Thanks for the reply Chris.

The R430 card has 1 display port, so using MST would be great to drive both monitors.

The other port on the card is DVI, so would need an adapter.

I'll see what input I get from the Linux users

Thanks

R430 DP out --> U2417H DP to mDP cable --> #1 U2417H mDP in port

R430 DVI out port --> DVI to HDMI cable --> #2 U2417H HDMI in port
