Error Code 0F00:1344

Question

Hello I am hoping I can save myself a wait on the phone. It started with a blue screen Stop:c0000218   about a corrrupt registry file . My attempts to repair failed and I realized windows folder was completely empty.   I am about to format and re-install and ran Dell Diagnostic and had several unrecoverable data errors. The exact text is: Msg: Block 86140: uncorrectable data error or media is write protected. It Occurs on multiple blocks. It also failed several Hard Drive tests: namely the read test, and verify test and confidence test.   Also have Error Code 0F00:1A44 and 0244     My question is: should I assume a physical defect on the HDD and replace it or could a format fix things? I am not sure. All the messages point to data error.   Thanks

i would guess it wont let you do a reinstall if the hard drive is damaged.  so, you might as well try a reinstall before buying the HD.
