Error Message

I am running Vista Home Premium and I downloaded a patch for a pc game. When I try to install the patch,it gives me a Error Message ( Error 1305. Error reading from file c:\windows\Installer\4aee7.msi. Verifty that the file exists and that you can access it.  Can someone tell me what this means and is there a workaround? I saved the file to the Desktop. Thanks.
