Error Message

I just posted this on the laptop forum by mistake.

So will try on the right one.

I keep getting the message "Dell Support centre has stopped Working" and I was wondering if someone could help me get rid of this annoying message.

Paul.

Uninstall Support Center in Add-remove Programs and it should go away. It is not a necessary utility, but if you want it you can reinstall it.

Hi,

Welcome to the Community.

The error message for Dell support center is because you need to update the software. I will suggest you to please try out the following steps:

  1. Click Start and in the Start Search box, type cmd
  2. Right-click on the cmd.exe icon displayed in the search results and select Run as Administrator. Click Continue to open the command prompt window.
  3. In the command prompt window, type cd %Program Files%\Dell Support Center and press .
  4. Type resourceUtil.exe import pcdroverrides.p5i.readonly and press .
  5. Close the command prompt window.

Dell support center is a very good program as it helps keep your system up to date and running efficiently and also when you are connected to the internet it automatically checks for items that are relevant to your system.

Please reply if you have any more queries.

Thanks and Regards

Hi parkwood40,

Welcome to the Community.

As Mary G mentioned, you can uninstall the Dell Support center and the issues will be fixed. Though it is not a program used for core functioning of the machine, because of certain features of this program sometimes you will find this program useful.

Please find the link below which explains the details also you have the download option for the program in case
