External Hard Drive

Hello Out There:
I have a Dell Dimension 8300PC with a 120GB hard drive.
I have added a external Seagate 120GB hard drive.
I have used Norton Ghost to copy the C drive to the F drive-----No problem.
Can anyone tell me what to do to be able to boot from the F drive?
I have tried everything I can think of with no results.
It starts to boot and I see the Windows flag and then goes to a stop error of 0X00000007B.

Thank You

As you have been told, the 8300 cannot be booted from an external drive. Why do you want to do this?

I created an image of my c drive on to an external drive using Acronis, and Acronis gave me the opportunity of creating a boot cd which I did. I guess that should I ever need to use the image, I would have to insert the boot cd first - hope I'm not wrong on this. Did you create such a cd with Norton?

No, I used Acronis True Image to make the boot CD and the image(which is on my external HD). I have never used the boot CD and the image to restore my HD--hopefully I will never need to.
