Failure to boot
Have Demension 4700. At Power On, the processor fan starts up running at a very high rate. Monitor stays BLACK. No beeps. At first, I'd switch OFF the computer, power it back ON, and the computer would boot. Now, nothing I seem to do makes it boot. Noticed the fan in the power supply wasn't running, so I replaced the power supply. Still nothing but that dad blame processor fan running at Mach speed. Any ideas?

What color is the power button when it won't boot, and is it solid or blinking? What color are the 4 diagnostic LEDs on rear of tower when it won't boot? You can look up all the error codes here.
When was last time you replaced the motherboard battery?

Look for bad Capacitors on the motherboard.
