Fatal exception 0E

I'm hoping someone may have some insight as to my fatal exception problem.. the message reads as follows: A fatal exception 0E has occurred at 0028:D52f339C in VXD mcscan (01) + 000194BC.

this has occurred several time's over the past month. It happened once on starting the computer, once opening window's media player version 7 and once while computer was idle with screen saver running.

It also seem's to stall the opening of window's at startup, my desktop appears without icons or anything in systray, it sit's there from 1 to 2 minute's then finish's loading window's. It also has one time slowed the opening of scandisk,window's explorer and disk detector ( part of soundblaster live program ) and word 20000..

Dell tech's unable to assist me stating mcscan is not a file in their operating systems...I searched the knowledge base with no luck yet...

I'm running a dimension XPS B933r, 128 meg's memory, nvidia 64DDR Geforce plus, soundblaster 512v live with enhanced 1024 digital......and mcafee anti-virus...
