Flickering lines on screen

I just purchased the Inspiron One 2330 and while in the process of the initial set up, lines started flickering periodically in different places on the screen and hasn't stopped. Also, the screen occasionally goes black for a second then returns to the screen - whether I'm typing, reading something on the screen, or clicking on a link. Is there a way to fix these two problems? Thanks.

Well flickering and blackening issues indicates that the system's display monitor might be faulty and needs to be replaced.

If your PC is under warranty and this ia a  hardware failure not a accidental damage one, then you should call dell technical support and report the issue to them and get your display replaced.

Hi jtkam,

Please run diagnostics on the system to confirm hardware functionality. Here are the steps:

  • Restart the system and immediately start tapping the 'F12' key to enter the 'Boot Menu'.
  • Use the 'Arrow' keys to scroll down and highlight the 'Diagnostics' option. Press the 'Enter' key.
  • The diagnostics will start. Please make a note of error code/message if it appears.

Also, boot the system to BIOS and check if you still see flickering lines on the screen in BIOS. Here are the steps:

  • Restart the system and immediately start tapping the 'F2' key to enter the 'BIOS'.
  • Observe the system in BIOS to check if the issue is persist here as well.

From the link  http://dell.to/YFGJ7y please download the latest video drivers and BIOS. Follow the onscreen instructions and install them. Restart the system and then check if this fixes the issue.

Before updating BIOS please ensure that:

  • Battery is 10%> or >10% charged.
  • Battery charger should be connected.
  • No external devices (flash drives, printers, external hard drives) should be connected.
  • All other programs should be closed and documents saved.

Hope this helps. Please share the findings.
