For an E521, is it better to add RAM or replace RAM?

I currently have the following RAM installed:

2 Dual in-line memory module 512, 533M, 64X64, 8, 240, 1RX8

I think this means approximately 1 GB of RAM at 533 MHz.  I ordered and plan to install 2X1 GB replacement memory modules that run up to 800 MHz.  My question is whether it would be better to ADD the new memory cards (for a total of 3 GB RAM but operating at the slower 533 MHz) or REPLACE the memory cards (for a total of 2 GB RAM operating at 800 MHz)?  Sorry if this question doesn't even make sense, but I'm a newbie poster.  Thanks for any help!

Obviously the 800Mhz speed memory, by itself, will run faster, however at these speeds there will be very little if any noticeable speed up with the 800Mhz memory.  Try it both ways and see which is faster.

I would opt for 3GB of RAM over 2GB.

Thank you for the advice, fireberd.

WOW, what a difference!  I took fireberd's advice and just added the two new memory cards for a total of 3 GB RAM, and the results were stunning (for my little machine).  The only adjustment I made was to reinstall the bigger/faster cards in slots 1 and 2, moving the original cards to slots 3 and 4.  It took more effort than I thought to securely anchor the cards in their slots.
