Front panel connector
I am trying to use a Dell motherboard (PN 2U819) in a non-Dell case. The board has a 34 pin connector instead of the standard front panel pins. Is there a plug available for this connector or could I at least get the pinouts for this so I can wire the power switch. etc?

bblaisde.
See if this information can help, personally I would use a standard ATX motherboard, the Dell proprietary board is a real pain to use in a non Dell case.

RUSTYMT,
Don't know what system it came out of. Here are some other numbers on the board:
Dell rev. A01
E210882 ( I think this is the UL number for Intel boards)
AA A97430-104
DS/N MY-02U819-19341-2AO-08YP : C/O MY
Bev,
The info you provided looks like a standard front panel connection. This board has a 34 pin male connector. Also, I could not open the site referred to as "Some more information on this topic is available on this page."
Thanks

i am having exactly the same problem... my montherboard came out of Dell Dimension 8200 (i850 Chipset)... and i think so did bblaisde's from the info he's given about his board.
for your reference the 34-Pin Front Panel connector on the motherboard looks like this:
all i need to know is the following connections:
1. Power Switch
2. Power LED
3. HDD LED
the rest i can live without
cheers, sohaib

Actually my board is probably an i845 chipset, since it takes DDR rather than RDRAM, but the front panel connector should be the same.
Someone thought that the Dell cases had a board in the front rather than indicator lights. If so, we may not be able to just attach the standard plugs for the lights and switch. I don't think the standard plugs will fit on the connector pins anyway since they are so small. May need a trip to RadioShack and make an adapter even if we do get the pin-outs.
My brother-in-law works at Dell and is trying to get some help figuring this out. Don't think he is talking to the right people. They thought it was the floppy drive connector.

i just can't stop wondering, whats so secret about this connector :-!

It's not worth working with; new, standard LGA775 motherboards can be had for $40-60, and they have better features.
