GX270 Audio Download R58182

After this file is downloaded, and un-zipped to Dell folder, a message for XP users is displayed that "Open" must be selected in order for the Install to work.

When "Install" is clicked", the box states "You have selected to Open"; however, the only button available to click on is "save" and  "Error installing kernel execute (0x10000) " is received.

Nice going Dell !

Edited: Ok, so I went into run cmd and found the setup file and the Soundmax install  began to execute, but aborted with "Driver not Found reboot your system and try again"

What kind of Garbage are you putting out here ?

You have a corrupted driver.  EXE and ZIP files do not download correctly in IE in XP.  Chipset is required BEFORE any other drivers.

Get Chrome and try again.

And you know I have a corrupted driver ? The facts are, there is no driver ! And I do not use IE, for downloads. But thanks for your thoughts. And are you certified in anything ?

If there is no driver then why is the file here.

2 of the many things you are doing wrong is that the chipset drivers should be installed BEFORE trying to do the audio drivers.  You may also have to disable driver signature enforcement because the driver is likely not WHQL certified.

There are also High Definition Audio Package Driver - KB835221 service packs and hotfixes for the HD Audio bus.

Aren't you a condescending sort ! ?

DELL must have made the name of the chip set driver a secret that  even you do not know ?

Never, ever ever had to disable a signature. Is this a DELL secret also ?

And read up on the Hot fix. There are two of them KB888111 and KB835221, Neither of which apply to the XP operating system, if you read the instructions after you download them. They are adamant about which OS to install on.

No further comm from you is necessary.

Driver signature enforcement has been around for quite a while. On Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, and Windows 2000, the INF file from the WHQL-signed driver package must use a device setup class that is defined in %SystemRoot%/inf/Certclas.inf. Otherwise, Windows treats the driver package as unsigned.

When a user attempts to install a driver package for a device type that is included in the HCK, the action that PnP device installation takes depends on the driver signing option (Ignore, Warn, Block) that a system administrator set for a computer in Device Manager. If Block is set, PnP device installation informs the user that the driver cannot be installed. Block is the default setting.

There are several service packs and several HD Audio bus drive  hotfixes  KB888111 for example. XP is end of life end of support from Microsoft as well as Dell.
