GX60 CPU upgrade
Hi:
I have this GX60 without a CPU. The original configuration included a "80531, 1.7G, 128K, 400FSB, CELERON".
My problem is that I do not know which CPU will work on this computer. I doubt I will find a 1.7 Celeron at this time, so, which one will work?
I read the post stating "The GX60 will support both Willamette and Northwood Pentium 4 Celeron processors and only the 400 FSB. So up to 2.4 GHz on this system with the Northwood Celeron Proc" However "Willamete" and "Northwood" does not say much to me. Moreover, the GX60 specifications indicate "Intel® Celeron® processor with 533MHz front side bus and 256KB L2 cache".
It does not remain clear to me whether this system supports only CPUs with 400 FSB or also CPUs with 533 FSB. It is also unclear if the system is compatible with some Pentium 4 CPUs (not Celeron).
I request your help to determine a compatible CPU for this computer, either by it's "common" name (1.7 GHz (478-pin Package) based on .18µ process technology, 128-KB Advanced Transfer Cache; 400 MHz bus) of by the Intel SKU number (BX80531P170G128, etc.)
I would like to get the fastest compatible CPU for this system (either Pentium 4 or Celeron, depending on the price).
Regards,

Prescott cpus wont work.
400mhz northwood cpus would work fine.
So 2.8ghz northwood cpu would be the fastest you can find.
3.0ghz /400mhz northwoods are not to be found as they are long gone.
Powerleap had these a long time ago.
