There have been a few people who have posted in the Video section that they have successfully run an 8800 GTS on an XPS 410. Based on that, I recently ordered mine, and it arrives in 2 weeks. I'll post my results in the Video forum after I install it.

I haven't heard of anyone trying the 8800 GTX in an XPS 410, due to PSU constraints. Most people suspect that the 8800 GTS is already pushing the limits of the system.

That's a bit amusing to me, given that I bought my 8800 GTS through Dell's accessories department. Hah.

I have the GTS in my XPS 700.  It is a great card.  I don't think I would push the 410 with a GTX.  You could probably get away with it if you have enough 2 open hard drive power plugs and an adapter, but I wouldn't do it.  You need to know that Dell will NOT support the GTS in any Dell computers.  That was told to me by Chris M.

Question: Is the 8800GTS better then a 7950GX2?

For 3Dmark 03, the 7950 GX2 is much faster. However, for 3Dmark 05, 3Dmark 06, the 8800 GTS is faster. If you take overclocking into account, the 8800 GTS really starts to pull ahead.

It (8800) is significantly more powerful, read some reviews the difference is huge and the higher resolution you go the more powerful it shows.
Plus the biggest change is you can run high levels of AA at lower res.

If you don't have a powerful CPU and or play at very high res, then reviews say it's probably not worth getting until the lower priced versions come out.

I think its Tomhardware that came out with a good one about it.

Who said you could not? Many people have posted that they have already gotten either of the new 8800 family cards working in the 410 family.

All,

There is alot of confusion concerning this. We do sell the 8800 GTS on our 3rd party Accessories page. BUT, we sell many 3rd party products on this page that we do NOT test. Support for 3rd party products fall to the 3rd party manufacturer. We do not test these devices in our labs. We sell them as a perk for those manufacturers. We have only tested the Dell/NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX video card.

Does that help clear up the confusion?
