HOT HARD DRIVES
I have a Dell Dimension 8400 which has worked flawlessly for 5 years now and probably all the time with the hard drives running at above average temperatures.
I have 2 hard drives, a Western Digital and a Hitachi-- what is worrying me is that the WD runs at an average temperature of 43.82C reaching above 51C sometimes and the Hitachi at an average of 43.78C and max above 51 sometimes.
According to what I've read this is hot.
I'd appreciate your advice.

Those temps are probably still within an acceptable range, although you could check the manufacture's specs to be sure. The drives in my last two computers have always run in the 41 to 48 degrees C range.
Cleaning out 5 years of dust from the inside of your computer and the fans might also help you lower temps a little.
