Heatsinks for GM3302 and GM3303

If I understand things, Dell used two different heat sinks for these boards. One being#RU305, for either board with dual core and, [tag:K078D] for quad core for use with GM3303. The RU305 is square and the K078D is round. My understanding is that you cannot use the RU305 for quad core, is that correct info? Was the K078D ever round? Have a supplier trying to tell me the square heatsink will work but, don't want to burn board or CPU. Thanks

Thanks for the response. I may have gotten the RU305 number wrong but, my question should have been did Dell use both a square and round heatsink (K078D) and can the square heatsink be used for quad core? Looking to upgrade and want correct heatsink.

The mounting for RU305 0RU305 Compatible Models: Inspiron 531,Inspiron 531s SOCKET AM2 is completely different than the K078D.  They are NOT interchangeable.  RU305 uses a strap and snaps on.   K078D uses Screws.     RU305 is for AMD Socket   K078D is for INTEL Socket 775.  GM3302 and GM3303 are Inspiron 530 VOSTRO 200/400 INTEL SOCKET 775 based motherboards.

You are totally barking up the wrong tree.

Have the M03 board and 650w power supply. Just looking for the proper heatsink. Have seen a couple of posts that are a little confusing to me but,  it looks like the K078D was used for both dual and quad. If that's the case then I'm figuring I shouldn't use the OCP825.

It would appear that the square heatsink is a OCP825, I believe  for the dual core only. The K078D(round) would have used with quad core because of increased heat. I am upgrading the CPU to quad core and don't believe I can use the OCP825 (square)heatsink. The reason I ask this question is a supplier sent me a sqare heatsink when I ordered the K078D. I believe it's a shipping error and, they told me they didn't have the other but the square one should work.

The square and round is based on INTEL vs AMD design and a strap or 4 post screws holding the heatsink down OVER and AM2 socket or Socket 775.

The question is about something that does not and did not ever exist.

There are 2 heatsink designs for Inspiron 530  Vostro 200/400

One is solid aluminum and one has a copper core.

One is low power and one is high performance.

Square vs Round is non sequitur and not a terminology aligned with actual specifications.

K078D ROUND is Clearly solid aluminum.

CP825 seems to be more surface area but also aluminum.

What would be the correct heatsink to use for quad core? If it is the copper core, could you provide me with a part number or recommendation?

Quad Core has more than just heatsink as a requirement.  Power supply is 350W not 305W and the M02 motherboard does not have the ability to support quad core.  No Idea which heatsink is used.
