Help - Execute Disable Memory Protection Technology?
I've had a dimension 8400 for about half a year, and all of the sudden i started getting a blue screen warning message jumping up, not every time, but about once in ten times that i start up. It has an error code of several zeros, then said something about if it's the first time just restart, if not then Execute Disable Memory Protection Technology. What is this? I'm fairly knowledgeable with computers, and this sounds like a Bios problem, but i could be wrong.
Can anyone help?

I seriously doubt that this is a BIOS problem, but to be sure you really need to post the full and exact text of the error message.

a lot depends on the exact stop error message with all the 4 parameters.however in the dim8400 bios, you have an option to disable memory protection technology. just disable it in the bios, save changes and reboot and see what happens.
also post the complete stop error message with any statements accompanying it.I think its more of a software problem in your casr. Its a feature of the processor which denies vertain memory allocations to suspicious file taht could be viruses.

Gee that`s good information but wait it sounds so familiar, why is that, oh yeah, Steve posted the same thing in this thread a whole day earlier.
Reverseswing2006,
read the link from Denny at the bottom of my post, you really need it for your own good, repeating info is bad.

and thanks for that link on posting etiquettes. neither was i trying to cut into anyone's post nor was I repeating info bcoz in that entire thread i dont see anyone named steve.
This is the seconf time you have caoutioned me about repitition and in both cases i neveer found the names of the ppl you were referring to.
its not my intention to provide info that's alrready been provided by someone else.In this case how do i see setve's reply.this is not a matter of ego or complex to me.its just a matter of learning.since there is a post by someone called steve according to you, then why is it not reflected in that post.

Let me send you a PM.
oops not enabled,
so
Volcanoll is Steve, if you had read his reply, you would have seen him sign his name, Steve.
Dell has two views and you maybe using Linear but either way, you should read the original post and all replies that are there before posting. Then if you want to add something new, use the Reply Button in the last message, not the original, then this shows the thread the same in both of Dell`s views.

At the time when Steves reply was the only one, yes please use the Reply Button in Steves, now it would be the reply in this post and so on and so on. The thread would look the same in both views. Be sure to read all replies though, the problem may be solved or someone has already posted the info you had in mind.

I don't understand or accept your logic about repeating questions forum. It seem as to me that what you are saying is that if a person has a problem with his Dell computer that he/she must search and read through the millions, if not billions of postings, first to see if someone else maybe years ago answered that question before he/she could post his/her problem... That is totally ridiculous and a cop out for lazy support people. If the support person himself feels that he has already covered the topic before he is the one that should be referring the end user with the problem to the alleged posting if he so desired. It is no one business, especially they do not work as support people for Dell, to admonish or reprimand unsuspected end users just because they have a question that may have been answered on this forum before. You may be one to keep track of every single posting here but some people have a life...

@ wsjnyc - So why are you responding to a thread that's 7 years old?
